Biography
Sara Göbel, born in 2002 in Hanover, discovered her passion for the violin at the age of five. She is currently completing her bachelor’s degree under Prof. Ulf Schneider at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, and spent the 2023/24 academic year studying with Prof. Timothy Chooi at the University of Ottawa.
She has gained artistic inspiration in masterclasses with Alexandra Conunova, Ingolf Turban, Catherine Cho, and further impulses from renowned musicians such as Ana Chumachenco, Midori, James Ehnes, Ning Feng, Martin Brauß, Eberhardt Feltz, Rainer Schmidt and Jörg Widmann. Festival appearances include the Notos Chamber Music Academy, the Holland Music Sessions, the Heidelberger Frühling, the Pacific Music Festival in Japan, and the Sarasota Music Festival in the USA. Sara has also appeared as a soloist with orchestra multiple times, such as with the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra.
As a passionate chamber musician, she has performed in the chamber music week of Renaud Capuçon and since 2023, Sara has been a member of the LGT Young Soloists, touring internationally with concerts in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Tonhalle Zürich. Her orchestral experience includes the German National Youth Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and since 2023, engagements with the Lower Saxony State Orchestra.
Sara has received numerous awards, including prizes at “Jugend musiziert,” the Eduard Söring Prize from the German Music Foundation, and first prize at the 2023 Chamber Music Competition at the University of Ottawa.
